Random picture, but this is how I broke the news to Lj ..... The plan failed and he did NOT get it. He kept saying no way, that's not true. Funny how kids have their own conception of how life works.... Haha. He's on board now & has been talking to my belly. It's so cute!
Now that I am 18 weeks pregnant (man, it's going soooo fast!) my doctor recommended that I see a specialist to control and monitor my epilepsy. Now, I've been seizure free for 2.5 years and off medicine for 19 months.
With the side effects of medicine, there is not enough research to justify getting back on medicine just because I am pregnant. Just my honest opinion. Again, I'm seizure free and off medicine with zero symptoms.... Why medicine?
When I saw my neurologist, she was glad I've been seizure free but not-so-glad I'm not on medicine. I voiced my concerns to her (besides the fact I waited until I was 4 months pregnant to make an appt). She then recommended an EEG to see if any seizure activity was present. If so, then she'd recommend going on a low dose of keppra (((( }+\^+#^+\_)))
Fast forward to today.... My EEG. Last night I didn't go to bed until midnight, woke up at 4 am, and didn't have caffeine until after the appt. eeeeek!
I canme home, took an hour nap, and finished my work day. Needless to say, I'm exhausted. This body is used too 9-10 hours of sleep. (Which is common in people with epilepsy).
I am anxious to hear from my neurologist with the results.
Next appt, tomorrow for the endocrinologist. My hypo active thyroid needs to be monitored monthly while pregnant. Oh the joys!
Hopefully ill get a workout in sometime. Needless today I was too tired to life anything. Like I told my friend Jess on the phone, I would have probably dropped one on my foot!
Did you see a specialist when pregnant?
Have you ever had a sleep-deprived EEG?
